About
My name is Fiacre O’Duinn and this blog reflects a lifelong interest in religion, history and esotericism.
I have a BA in Religious Studies from Concordia University and an MA in Religion and Culture from Wilfrid Laurier University. In both programs I concentrated on fin de siecle esoteric movements, researching topics such as the construction of gender within occult movements, the intersections between esotericism and cryptography, and the ethical issues raised by secrecy in the preservation of esoteric heritage. During my MA I did fieldwork among esoteric groups in Toronto, looking at their concepts of gnosis and its role in the construction of esoteric identity. I also have an MLIS from the University of Western Ontario and I currently work as a librarian in Hamilton, Ontario.
I am an associate member of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism and a member of the Societas Magica.
I can be contacted via email at fiacre (AT) esotericheritage.com.
If you would like to know more about Western Esotericism read the introduction at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) Center for History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents.
